Spring 2026 is one of the strongest seasons for anime music in recent memory. Here is every opening ranked, from good to unforgettable.
1. Witch Hat Atelier
Artist: TBA — officially unrevealed at time of writing
No opening this season looks like this. The Witch Hat Atelier OP is animated entirely in the style of Kamome Shirahama's manga art — scratchy, detailed, full of depth and shadow. Every second of it feels like a moving illustration. When the chorus hits and Coco's hat transforms mid-flight, it is the kind of moment you rewind immediately.
It is not just beautiful. It tells you exactly what the show is: handcrafted, deliberate, unlike anything else.
Rating: S tier
2. Re:Zero Season 4
Artist: Myth & Roid
Myth & Roid have done Re:Zero's music multiple times now and they understand the series better than almost anyone. The Season 4 OP builds slowly — too slowly, you think, until the drop hits and the imagery of Subaru's loops collapses into each other. White Fox animates memory and grief better than almost any other studio, and this OP proves it in ninety seconds.
Rating: S tier
3. Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3
Artist: Millennium Parade
The Culling Game needed an OP that felt dangerous, and this delivers. MAPPA's action animation is at its ceiling here — fluid, dynamic, and deeply unsettling in a way that perfectly mirrors the arc's tone. The track builds to a controlled explosion. Every frame looks intentional.
Rating: A+ tier
4. Wistoria: Wand and Sword Season 2
Artist: SixTONES
Wistoria's OP is the season's most purely enjoyable. It does not try to be artistic — it wants to pump you up, and it succeeds completely. The choreography of Will's sword sequences synced to the beat is some of the most satisfying animation of the season. You will not skip it.
Rating: A tier
5. Solo Leveling Season 2
Artist: SawanoHiroyuki[nZk]
SawanoHiroyuki is the composer behind Attack on Titan and Kill la Kill. He brings that same sense of epic scale to the Solo Leveling Season 2 OP, and it fits perfectly. Jin-Woo's march through the Shadow Army set to Sawano's orchestral production is exactly the kind of power fantasy the show is built on.
Rating: A tier
6. Blue Lock Season 2
Artist: Zutomayo
Zutomayo's experimental sound has always suited Blue Lock, and Season 2's OP leans further into chaos than Season 1's. It sounds like a football game falling apart and somehow reassembling into something beautiful. The animation — all sharp angles and distorted perspective — matches.
Rating: A- tier
7. Akane-banashi
Artist: Yoasobi
Yoasobi doing a Rakugo anime OP sounded like a strange match until you hear it. The track manages to sound both traditional and contemporary, exactly like the show itself. It will not be the most talked-about OP of the season, but it is quietly one of the best.
Rating: A- tier
Final Thoughts
Spring 2026 is exceptional for anime openings. Witch Hat Atelier and Re:Zero S4 are legitimate contenders for OP of the year. If you watch anime with the skip button ready, this is the season to reconsider that habit.
